Hot Chocolate Bar with Chocolate Spoons

One tradition that my family enjoys is our "hot chocolate bar" throughout the month of December.  We start this around December 1st and continue it through Christmas break.  It includes various flavors of hot chocolate mix and a whole array of add-ins to chose from, an essential for our hot chocolate bar is chocolate spoons.  The instructions follow...

1.  You'll need plastic spoons, various types of chocolate chips to melt, and more chocolate chips or candies to top the spoons.  This time around we used milk chocolate chips, white chocolate chips, mini chocolate chips, peanut butter chips, and candy canes.

2.  Arrange plastic spoons on a cookie sheet with the handles propped up along the edge.  Pour chocolate chips into a mug and heat in the microwave for 30 seconds, stir, and repeat until melted.  Using another spoon, scoop the melted chocolate into the plastic spoons.

3.  Top immediately with chocolate chips of another type or crushed candy canes.

4.  Add the spoons to a variety of hot chocolate mixes, marshmallows, and any other yummy tidbits your family may enjoy with hot chocolate...such as sprinkles, small candy canes, whipped cream, caramel, etc.

Enjoy! You have a great treat for your family and/or gift to share!
