Summer has always been my favorite time of the year since I was a kid, but as a mom of 3 it tends to come with some mixed feelings. I love having more time with the kids, but it can be challenging to get on a new schedule, esp. when it comes to finding a good balance between free time (which often leads to wanting screen time) and educational activities to keep them learning. Thankfully this year my kids get out of school a week between each other so that gives me time to adjust to having one more at home at a time.

Over the last couple of summers we've started using this Daily Summer Schedule. It's perfect because it gives the kids at least one activity every day to look forward to. Some days we keep it simpler than others for a good balance and occasionally we switch the day's activities, but it works pretty well. We also like this Summer Bucket List for brainstorming ideas. On the top of our list is trips to Thanksgiving Point (hands-on learning museums/activities for the kids) and our local splash pad/park.

This week we couldn't resist featuring summertime treats! They're all so colorful and perfectly sweet for warmer weather. What I especially love is they're simple enough to make that the kids can help (great for What's Cooking Wednesday).
