Every season some overall trends surface with fashion.
Here are a few of the forecasted trends expected to hit the scene this fall:

Turtlenecks are back, only this time they are even more popular in printed patterns.

Plaid is back on the scene. Remember the plaids of the 90s? These classic plaids are expected to return in full force.

Animal prints are still demanding attention and these prints work for clothing, accessories, shoes, and even backpacks.

Bold prints rule over subtle patterns. When choosing a print, the bolder, the better.

Color blocking is now cool for kidswear. Think large blocks or geometric patterns of bright colors alternating with black and white.

Must Have Tops

Boys

Bold graphic tees - science themed (think shirts that look like a science project), dinosaurs, animals, extreme sports
Striped tees with large screen printed items across the front
Camo print tees
Plaid button downs (think classic plaids)
Hoodies with thick fleece inside and lining the hood
Bold printed jackets (outerwear)

Girls

Print dresses - floral prints, large polka dots, chevron prints, animal prints, bold stripes
Large print graphic tees - look for a tee with one large picture on the front like an animal head, large heart, etc.
Printed cardigans - florals, chevron prints, large polka dots, big stripes
Hoodies with thick fleece inside and lining the hood

Must Have Bottoms

Boys

Camo printed pants
Jeans or chinos in bold colors - bright yellow, grass green, orange, etc.
Cargo pants - plain, plaid, printed, etc.
Classic blue jeans

Girls

Patterned jeans - stenciled designs, polka dots on denim, floral prints
Leggings - for under dresses and to wear with other tops
Denim leggings - in traditional denim blue and bright colors
Corded jeans (thin striped corduroy) - seek out the popular colors listed above
Brightly colored jeans - find the cut of jean that works best for your daughter and choose a bold color

Must Have Shoes

Boys

Canvas shoes - lace up or velcro
Leather boat shoes
Athletic shoes in bright colors

Girls

Ballet flats - metallics, animal prints, floral prints, sequined
Western fashion boots - these boots are all about fashion, not western function. If normal cowgirl boots are coming to mind, check out these boots to see the difference.
Brightly colored sneakers.

Final Thoughts

Shopping for school clothes should be a fun adventure. In planning your budget ahead of time and making a list of must have items for each child, you can decrease a lot of unnecessary shopping stress.
