February is National Children's Dental Health Month

With February being National Children's Dental Health Month, it's a great time to review our kids dental habits. The American Academy of Pediatrics, as well as, the American Dental Association recommend first taking a child to the dentist when they get their first tooth or turn a year old, whichever comes first. I've learned with my kids that taking them at a young age can help them feel more comfortable at each succeeding visit.

Children should brush at least twice a day and floss once a day with the help of a parent or other adult. Good dental health is more than that, though, it also requires eating nutritiously. Limiting sugary foods and drinks, cutting back on between-meal snacks, chewing sugarless gum, taking fluoride supplements, offering milk or water (rather than juice or soda), and scheduling regular check-ups and cleanings at the dentist will help your kids smile stay bright!

  1. Dental health insurance, often called dental benefit plan, is among the much wanted employee benefits these days. Hence, companies offer dental health insurance as a way to attract and keep hold of their workers. One cannot deny that dental troubles and distress have the biggest parts in general employee health and lost man days. Something to consider, however, is many dental health insurance plans do not include pre-existing conditions.
