ProvoFireworks.com: Affordable Fireworks for July 4th Celebrations

My family loves celebrating the 4th of July! While we don't do all of the same activities each year, we always have a barbecue and end the day with fireworks. We look forward to the fireworks most because our friends put all of their fireworks together to put on a huge show. There's just something magical about the way each firework lights up the night! I especially love watching the expressions on my kids' faces.

I was excited when I heard about ProvoFireworks.com this year! Not only is it the best place to purchase affordable fireworks (even cheaper than stores in Evanston, Wyoming), but they take customer service seriously. Provo Fireworks loves being a part of creating memories for families on Independence Day. As part of this they provide little extras to customer's orders. You'll also have the security of their no-dud guarantee"If you get a dud, I provide you with your option of a refund or to replace the firework. Again, I stand behind my product." (Provo Fireworks)

Provo Fireworks is able to keep their costs low because they operate online rather than having the overhead expense of running a tent. Customers can avoid the heat and crowds to shop at their convenience online, then pick up their order for free or pay $5 for delivery if they live in Utah County. Another benefit of shopping online is there are video demos for most of the products so it's easy to see what each one does. Custom firework packages are also available for different age groups.

Check out ProvoFireworks.com for more information and enjoy saving on your selection of snaps and sparklers to commercial aerials! Disclosure: I received compensation by Provo Fireworks in exchange for this post. Regardless, all opinions are my own.

Hands-on Learning at Discovery Gateway Children's Museum

If you live near downtown Salt Lake City or get a chance to visit and want to take the kids somewhere they can experience hands-on learning, go to Discovery Gateway Children's Museum! Growing up in Utah I'd heard a lot about it, but this was our first visit together (my son had been on a field trip with his 1st grade class) and I have to say it was about time! The kids had an absolute blast! As soon as we left they were already asking when we'd be able to go again.

Exciting things are happening for our family! I got a new job I can work from home, and my husband is graduating in a couple short months AND just got a part-time accounting position! We're now settling into more of a routine with the kids since they've been out of school for the summer as well. One thing that has helped us the most is the weekly Summer Schedule for Kids we shared on the blog a couple weeks ago. Having at least one structured family activity a day has given the kids something to look forward to and initiative to help with planning. Pst: Coming to the blog soon - a 4th of July treat and post about our trip to Discovery Gateway Children's Museum!

Now that we're so close to Father's Day the kids have had fun helping me find some fun gift ideas for their dad and grandpas. I created a roundup of over 25 DIY Father's Day Gift Ideas from some amazing bloggers. To go along with gifts, I thought we'd feature today's recipes around a dinner I thought dad would like for Father's Day- at least if he's anything like my husband! Thanks for joining us, and feel free to link up your recipes below!

Although I'm not a vegetarian, I try to eat a good variety of vegetables. My family participates in our local food co-op and shops at the farmers market for a good variety of fresh fruits and veggies. I tend to make salads and sandwiches more in the summer; there's just something about the fresh, crisp flavors. I can't wait to make these salad recipes for my family and try more green smoothies, too! Enjoy this week's features, and be sure to link up your recipes below!

Summer Schedule for Kids

We love the idea of having an activity theme each day of the week during the summer, and these printables from Somewhat Simple make planning a cinch! We're going to print both "This Week" version and the previous year's version and laminate them to trade off and reuse with dry erase pens. The best part about it all is we can keep the activities simple so there's minimal planning for the parents and the emphasis is kept on learning and enjoying the activity together!

Some of our ideas for activities include:
  • Make Something Monday: Paint, color, craft, play dough, moon sand, sidewalk chalk, sensory table, lacing cards
  • Time to Read Tuesday: Library story time, read-a-thon, tell stories, act out a play
  • What's Cooking Wednesday: Cook dinner together, bake a treat, pack a picnic lunch, create a new snack/meal
  • Be Thoughtful Thursday: Plant flowers, bake cookies for neighbors, visit elderly, write letters, donate food or clothing, recycle
  • Somewhere Fun Friday: Park, splash pad, museum, library, local event, hiking, bike ride, movie theater
